Payment errors and what they mean

If your payment failed, there are 2 different error codes:

1. AVS Mismatch

What this means:

Your payment attempts failed because the billing address for the order does not match the billing address for your card. The failed attempts may show up in your account as pending transactions, but they will disappear in the next day or two.

How to fix this:

You can correct this on-site by entering a new payment method with the correct billing address. If you have 2 different billing and shipping addresses, make sure "Billing same as shipping" is not selected when you enter your new payment method & billing address. Or, if you fill out our credit card authorization form, and email it to success@personalwine.com, we can complete your order manually for you.

2. Declined

What this means:

The transaction is being declined by your bank. We are in Austin, Texas and sometimes banks flag out-of-state transactions as suspicious activity.

How to fix this:

If you give them a call and let them know this is not a fraudulent transaction, they will be able to remove the hold on your card. Failed payment attempts will show up as pending transactions, but will disappear from the account in a few days. You will need to make one last payment attempt after authorizing the transaction with your bank.
